Static Mixers

Static mixers are motionless devices used for continuous mixing and homogenization of process fluids in pipelines. The internal mixing elements remain stationary while the fluid passes through them using its own flow energy.

This process requires no direct mechanical energy input and is driven solely by the pressure drop along the mixer. Depending on design and operating conditions, this pressure drop may range from a few millibars (mbar) to several bars (bar).

In many industries, mixing operations are traditionally carried out in vessels, reactors, and tanks. However, in certain applications, mixing and even chemical reactions can be performed within pipelines, effectively turning the pipe into a reactor under specific conditions.

In such cases, static mixers provide a cost-effective and efficient solution for chemical processing. This is particularly important in applications requiring rapid mixing and low residence time, such as molten polymer processes where time directly affects final product properties.
